smaller than 1.5 quarts
Overflows with 1 quart, 1 cup. Okay pot, though. A bain-marie pot has material on the bottom that is not supposed to heat past 100 degrees C, the boiling point of water. Good for melting chocolate, fondue, holindaise sauce.
A billion and one uses
These are great containers for just about anything. I bought several of these and installed them in my countertop. I have one of those weird corner cabinets where the back of the cabinet is pretty hard to access, so I never store anything in there, so it is just wasted space. I got these metal bain maries, traced their outline onto my countertop over the useless cabinet, and cut a hole. Now I have three little metal storage holders in my countertop for all my kitchen gear - spatulas, serving spoons, wooden spoons, etc. Puts everything in easy reach instead of having to dig through drawers to find stuff.
slightly too small
I liked the pot but it was slightly too small for what I needed the pot for, but it seems to be of good quality
