jagged edge works well
to get the core out of apples this device is perfect. The jagged little teeth help cut through the skin and flesh and by twisting ever so slightly the core of the apple is removed smoothly and cleanly. If your apples are very big, you may have to go through twice to get all the core out, and I could see that the length of the blade might not make it all the way through but I never had that problem yet
